Skateboardin' noobies

This is a page for people who are noobies to skateboarding!
Okay this is for all the guys and especially girls out there that dont know too much about skateboarding but want to learn. I will write about certain tricks we perform and how to do them, i'l also add sum stuff that i had to write in a skateboarding magazine article (for college).

Tricks and wot they are!

Types of stance - There is regular stance (left foot at the front) and goofy stance (right foot at the front). Theres no proper way to skate so do it the way it feels confortable,

**Andy Handy Hint** just dont skate MONGO!!! (thats having ur back foot on whilst you push with your front foot) cos your look like a fool and skateboardings all aboot the style hehehe.

Ollie - this is basically just a jump to you new guys and its done by poping (hiting the back tail to the ground) the back tail and scraping the front foot up to the front of the board. Fackie ollies are the exact same but rolling backwards, a switch ollie is the same action but with skating with your uncomfortable foot at the front. Finally to make it simple a Nollie is like a swith fackie ollie.

Hope your still with me....

Kickflip - This is basically flipping the board over with your front foot, done by poping your back tail and the scraping your front foot up the board and then off the side of the nose. This scrape off the side makes the board flip over, you then simply catch the board over the truck bolts whent he board has completed one flip. The other 3 variations are the switch flip, nollie flip and fackie flip. Interperate the kickflip into what i said about the ollie variations and you should understand how these are dun!!

I'm confusing myself now but il explain a few more 4 ya lovely noobies!!

Heelflip - is basically the same as the kickflip but you hit flick your heel off the far side of the board to make it flip over the opposite way. Simple really isnt it!

Shuvits - This is a simple trick which is done by poping your back foot again but pulling the board around behind you as you pop. Your front foot should be aiding the back foot by pushing the front of the board around aswell. The board should then turn 180 degrees and then be caught by your feet over the truck bolts. You can also do 360 shuvs by doing everything with abit more power and speed and letting the board turn 360 degrees before catching it. Easy hey!!

**Andy's Handy Hint** try jumping as high as you can verticaly as this will help keep the board underneath you and also help get them higher!

180's - These are another beginners trick for you to try on the ground, fronside 180's are the most popular as the are supposed 2 be easyer (tho i believe backside are easyer and look much more stylish and remember its all aboot the style). A frontside 180 is basically turning your whole body and board 180 degrees with your face going into the wind as you turn (hope you understand that, i mean like with your face seeing where you are going)

A stylish backside 180 is the same but turning with your arse into the wind.
**Andys Handy Hint** when your about to land your backside 180 look foward again in your switch stance as this helps you to balance and roll away smooth rather than feeling the need to turn around. Also prevents you from sliding out onto ur arse aswell.

Backside &frontside flips - These are basically conbining your kickflips (or heelflips) with your 180's. Some peeple AKA Ian and Mark find it easyer to do the flip and then pivoting the 180 on the front truck (pivoting is turing you and your board around on one of the trucks).

**Andys Handy Hint** Do the same as for the backside 180's when landing and also try jumping verticaly as high as you can again as like the shuvits it helps keep the board spining beneath you

Sorry for the lack of tips for you frontside guys/gals but i still dont understand how they doit yet! hehehe and its supposed 2 be the easyer way! i dunno

Board slides - these are an easy and fun grind to do, again you can either do'em fronside (which is when you approach the object with your body facing it and slide along backwards) or backside (which is when you approach the object with your back towards it and slide along fowards) and again backside are much more stylish
just find yourself a nice smooth rail and slide along it on your bord hehe as easy as that!!sorry but av written a lot and cant be botherd to do any more except for 1 last

**Andy's Handy Hint** on backside boards look over your shoulder when sliding as it helps keep your balance and makes it soo much easier to come back out to normal!
Thats it for now folks but dont worry there will be more of Andy's Handy Hints coming soon hehe have fun

Still cant land your tricks?
Then go ask Ian Devine i'm sure he'l hav the solution for ya, well he does for me anyways!
